Following the adverse effects of drought in five consecutive seasons, the Cabinet resolved to form a Crisis Response Centre (CRC) vide Section IV paragraph 31 of the Cabinet Memorandum of August 2009 on Food Security, Water and Energy Crisis. The CRC was launched by the Rt. Hon Prime Minister on 20th August 2009 and is currently coordinating multi-faceted, comprehensive and rapid responses to the crises.
